Hair transplantation

Cost can vary from $4,000, for a lesser degree of hair loss, to over $20,000.00 for more extensive hair loss. Good results may be obtained today, however hair continues to fall out and regrowth does not occur. Unless daily care products to prevent cellular aging are used, genetically programmed degeneration continues. If the tissue bed is poorly supplied with blood circulation , nutrition, and nerve function, then the follicle is surrounded by nothing but dirt and toxic metabolites. The graft recipient site will once again suffer follicle miniaturization and ultimately hair loss. Drugs: Minoxidil and Other Products

• The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends that its use be discontinued two weeks prior to procreative sex, although the manufacturer (Merck) claims there are no birth defects associated with the use of this drug. 
• When male patients take Finasteride, a significant number report a decrease in libido, and a smaller number report "ache in the groin area." Also, a small number of men experience impotence. 
• With the use of Finasteride therapy, "massive shedding," is being reported, usually after several months of successful use. 
• Dermatologists are now advising patients to stop using any hair regrowth drug which may cause rapid shedding.

Other side effects to watch for when using oral or topical medication for hair loss:

• Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Minoxidil may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid these activities. 
• Use caution when rising from a sitting or lying position, especially first thing in the morning. You may become dizzy while taking minoxidil, and you may fall and injure yourself if you get up quickly. 
• Watch for an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives); 
• Increased difficulty in breathing; · irregular or very fast heartbeat; 
• New or worsening chest pain; 
• Water retention or weight gain -- swelling of your face, stomach area, hands, feet, or ankles (call your doctor if you suddenly gain 5 or more pounds); 
• Impotence 
• Breast tenderness or enlargement. 
• More side effects may occur

Minoxidil effectiveness: 

• Has shown some positive effect. 
• Results are mixed and there are good results in less than 10% of the cases.
• Minoxidil can be expensive.
